What we do
Hotels and restaurants in Arusha (Tanzania) struggle to find adequate staff to provide good service to their clients. At the same time, young Tanzanians lack knowledge, skills and the right attitude to find decent employment. Jobortunity bridges this gap through hands-on training!
The Jobortunity Training Institute, operational since August 2009, takes motivated people aged 18-24 and gives them an unique form of head, hands and heart training. The Hi5-concept of Dutch Versity, adapted by Jobortunity, enables youth to use their hand as a guide. The 10-month Training of Youth (TOY) programme focuses on the behaviour (related to work), employability and life skills and personal development of its students.
In the first yesr, this approach resulted in 40 graduated students. A second group of 40 graduated in July 2011 of which 86% got a job upon graduation. In this same month Jobortunty started with her third class of 40 students. A new inspiring and motivated group!
Jobortunity continues to receive positive feedback from the hotels, lodges and restaurants where students underwent practical training. Many students found employment at these places.
